Our Pastoral Care Program at Salesian College is alive and active. As a Community we believe that:

  • Salesian College must be welcoming and affirming of the worth and dignity of each person.
  • Pastoral Care is expressed through a commitment to what each person is and can become.
  • Pastoral Care is experienced through interpersonal contacts where an atmosphere of love and respect is maintained.
  • Each individual should feel they belong to a community and have maximum opportunity for spiritual, personal, academic and social growth.
  • Sound Teaching Practice is a key element in effective Pastoral Care.
  • Pastoral Care will be experienced when reason, religion, kindness and justice are characteristics of all aspects of College life.

In order to achieve these principles the College has a number of policy guidelines in place:

  • Each year level is organised in a series of Homerooms.
  • Year Level Coordinators meet with Homeroom Teachers on a weekly basis to review progress of the students.
  • The College Principal meets with each Year 11 student on an individual basis
  • A Pastoral Team, consisting of members of the College Leadership Team, teachers, parents and students, meets each term to foster opportunities for student leadership, student activities and oversee the Pastoral Care Policy.
