Salesian College is a winning member of the Associated Catholic Colleges (ACC) Competition, made up of 14 schools. ACC Sport is compulsory for all students who are capable of representing the College. The ACC is one of the premier competitions in Australia and is a great opportunity for our most gifted students to play for the College.

Sport, as a subject, is conducted over three afternoons each week. Year 7 and Year 8 on a Thursday, Year 9 and Year 10 on a Tuesday, while senior levels are held on Wednesday.

The Sports played in these classes are cricket, volleyball, tennis (Terms 1 and 4), football, soccer (Term 2), hockey, table tennis and basketball (Term 3). We are highly competitive in all these sports and constantly win the competitions.

Supplementing the ACC Sport Competition we also have rally days at the start of each season across all levels.

Sporting Carnivals for Swimming and Athletics are conducted in Term 1, while the Cross-Country Carnival is held in Term 3. The College has also been very successful in the Victorian Schools Competition with many of our students going on to represent Victoria at National Competition level.

Each Salesian student has an equal opportunity to represent the College in any of our sporting teams. Our sporting philosophy is that through competitive sport we encourage physical development, friendly rivalry and, more importantly, participation with an emphasis on winning; however, never at the expense of good sportsmanship.

Students not involved in our competitive teams take part in an intra-college competition that runs parallel with the ACC Championship. Every six weeks students have the choice of sports ranging from the traditional to in-line hockey, lawn bowls, cycling, canoeing, European handball and self defence.

Salesian College has excellent sporting facilities, with tennis courts, three ovals, a soccer oval, basketball courts and a large gymnasium. The College also makes use of excellent facilities within close proximity to the College, comprising of eleven full size basketball courts, 10 tennis courts, a nine hole golf course, fifty metre swimming pool, state of the art gymnasium and a state league hockey field.

The Salesian sporting program is one of Victoria's strongest, catering for all levels of interest, from pleasure through to national competition. Our boys benefit from this, as sports are a very important element of their Journey of Excellence.
