Welcome
to your son and your family.
Our
College is a place where the founding philosophies of
Saint John Bosco are followed to provide your son with
the Salesian ideal of education, encompassing the growth
of the whole person - socially skilled and academically
sound, with well rounded sporting, artistic and technical
capabilities.
Salesian
College is once again extremely proud of the VCE results
achieved by the Class of 2007.
“
I congratulate all of the Year 12 students who worked
so diligently and deservedly for the results they have
attained. These excellent results are a product of the
close links between the teaching staff, parents and
students. These students are now well- rounded young
men able to meet the challenges of life and to continue
on their own “Journey of Excellence”."
One
special characteristic of our school is that the boys
here are so obviously happy together - and this positive,
safe learning environment is the foundation that sets
them on their Journey of Excellence.
St.
John Bosco, the founder of the Salesians, used to say
to his students, "What I want is your happiness:
now, tomorrow and forever." St. John Bosco's approach
was to create a naturally happy environment in which
to encourage excellence.
Happiness
is "now", at the very beginning of the Journey
of Excellence! Our teachers are professionals in boys'
education and will engage your son in every manner of
worthwhile activity and foster in him the belief that
he can develop and reach achievable goals. Numeracy
and literacy skills are the focus of his first years
at the College as these provide the basic grounding
for future achievement.
Happiness
"tomorrow" is the knowledge that your son
is able to learn and find direction in a safe and caring
environment. The staff are a friendly presence amongst
the students, this helps prevent negative influences.
Students in all levels have access to counselling for
career, academic and personal situations.
"Forever"
is the continuation of the Journey. We tell our boys
about God here. So, secure in the knowledge of God's
love for them, they face the journey of life with confidence.
